flat nipple advise

I have pretty flat nipples and had great trouble with BF when i had DD1 (that amongst other reasons) I ended up expressing feeds for the first 6 weeks before moving onto formula.

DD2 is now 4 days old and I was happy to find that BF this time was alot easier. Not easy but the first few days were fine.
My milk came in yesterday and my boobs were so full and round that there was no nipple to get hold off at all! Sooo painful.
I expressed feeds for DD which she had from a bottle after unsucessfully trying to BF.

Today my boobs feel abit better and not quite so full but still having trouble getting her latched on. She either cant seem to get hold of anything or just gets a little bit of nipple and has afew sucks on that.

Ive looked at this and wondered if it might help get her latched on?? Anyone tried this? Anyone any other advice?

Not used this but have used nipple shields with my little one for 16 weeks - don't know if they would be good for you?

I used to spidge my boob into the right shape so dd could get a good mouthful. We bf for 4 months and she was never able to latch on herself but by helping her I never got sore and she bf really well.

I did the expressing a bit from day 4 aswell as they were like bloomin' bowling balls.

I double pumped for 5 weeks before my DD would latch on (to one nipple only). The pumping altered the nipple tissue and they came out a bit, or at least it comes out once she latches. I remember those times when they were so full (she's 9 months now and it's so easy!) and it was really difficult. Expressing meant I could be more relaxed about it all too. Nipple shields didn't help us, but might help you. Can you see a BF counsellor? BF cafe?

I used the latch assist and it worked great. I had to use it before every feed but after a week or too my nipples had come out enough for my DD to latch on and I haven't had to use it since then - she is 5 months now.

Another vote for the latch assist here! I started with nipple shields but I think the latch assist might be better in the long run.
