Please tell me what symptoms you reflux baby had, and what you did to fix them?

How much vomitting did they do?

Is screaming when on their backs after a feed a symptom (as opposed to a preference?)

Thanks.

My ds2 had reflux & was generally really difficult but how much was reflux linked I'll never know for sure. Anyway in his case he was sick after most feeds & brought up what looked like gallons every time. He could do this anytime from straight after a feed to almost due the next one. He cried pretty much constantly & used to scream for hours non stop every night. I used to try & avoid laying him flat as he would always be sick laid flat on his back although he actually liked laying flat. He spent a lot of time in his bouncy chair after feeds in an attempt to help him digest at least some of his milk. His cot was propped up for a while too. Neither of which seemed to help but I know can help. The GP prescribed him Gaviscon which comes in sachets to be added to formula which really helped him. He's now almost 6 months & is much better. Weaning has made a massive difference & he's now off the Gaviscon & a very happy little man. There are lots of things which can be prescribed (special formula as well as medication) which may or may not help you. Good luck.

Our ds 10 months had reflux, the symptons were - he would be happily feeding away and then suddenly it's everywhere, on the chair, cushions, stool, clothes, everywhere. Long as it wasn't projectile the mw wasn't worried because he is a big strong baby. I was worn out because then I would have to do another feed soon again because if his stomach was left empty it would only make it worse. Sometimes he would do it in his basket, this always worried me because he would be sleeping on his back.

There was no answer, just a careful diet for me, I was being very careful and had already experience of 21 months feeding dd.

With time it disappeared. I think it lasted about 3 months or so, we didn't give him anything for it.

Oh and there wasn't much crying, dd did that, but ds isn't fussy, he'd get upset a bit but he is very laid back.

My dd had it. Symptoms were arching her back, fussing and crying when feeding, hearing a whooshing or regurgitation noise in her tummy, dd making a face - prob when getting acid, being sick numerous times a day.
What helped:
Breastfeeding - worse when bottle fed.
Putting dd on tummy to sleep (not advised I know, but only way she could get comfy)
Weaning
Getting older - digestive system maturing.

She is now 10 months and no longer sick every day.

My dd (who is now 9) had reflux as a baby.

She did not suffer very much with pain, but she was sick a lot! She was ff, and after each feed she would bring back lots of milk. The sick often did not even smell, so little time was it in her stomach. The volumes were hard to judge, but they were enough to run off the sofa and onto the floor (if I was not quick with the muslin).

I used to hold her upright for about 20 minutes after each feed, which was pretty hard work during night feeds when I just wanted to go back to sleep.

The hardest thing was the lack of sleep (for me) and the constant washing of her and my clothes.

We did not get any medication for this. When I complained to the HV she told me to tough it out, because dd1's weight gain was good.

The reflux improved when dd1 could sit upright, and got even better when she was crawling. I remember dd1 seeing a paediatrician for something else when she was 11 months old, and she was sick all over her floor as she was crawling about. I apologised and she said that dd1 had been a reflux baby. The doctor exclaimed that she had "reflux with bells on it." I remember thinking you should have seen her when she was a little baby.
