Vitamin C drops at 4 months

My mother-in-law says in her time babies around 4 months were given vitamin C drops every day as breast milk (nor formula for that matter) doesn't 'cover' vit C. I haven't heard this before and just wanted to know what others thought/knew.

My DS is 13 weeks and exclusively breast fed. Do I need to start thinking about introducing vitamin C?

The food standards agency advises vitamin A, C and D for babies and children aged 6 months to 5 years.

kellymom has info about vitamins for breastfed babies

is it likely that nature would design a milk for a human baby that doesn't provide all the nutrients the baby needs ? No. If you are EBFing then your son is getting everything he needs from your milk.

Another way for the pharmaceutical conglomorates to make money out of worried mothers

FIBILOU that is exactly what I think! How can breastmilk not be complete in every way? Very puzzling if you need to add other vitamins on top bf.

If, however, there is a view that vitamins need to be given, why doesn't any literature commonly handed out mention it?
