I know you cant with a newborn, but does that change now that they can themselves take child doses of ibuprofen?

Ibuprofen is normally considered fine for the mum to take whatever the age of the baby, Sal....

This site says it is a 'preferred choice'.

Who told you not to when your baby was small? Maybe there are special circumstances for this unusual advice?

I was advised to take ibruprofen when I had mastitis recently, and was bf a toddler.

TulipsInTheSunshine · 13/05/2010 15:01

it's fine no matter how old the infant. (thank god as i get horrible headaches and couldn't survive without neurofen)

thanks

a friend of mine was told by her health professionals that she had to stop BFing her 2 month old because she needed ibuprofen for pain

such a small amount gets into the milk if it not worth worrying about.
Due to mastitis/abscess, I was feeing dd when on paracetamol/ibuprofen and 3 different types of antibiotic, and she was fine, no upset stomachs, or other side effects

Ibuprofen is absolutely fine whatever the age of the baby you're breastfeeding.
