Giving up b/feeding help please

Hi, help needed please.

DD is 15 months old and I am finding b/feeding exhausting particularly now I am back at work.

She only feeds morning and night, can any of you offer some advice on how to give up? What will it do to my boobs? Whenever she has been away from me for a night my boobs get so heavy and painful that I instigate a b/feed with her as soon as I see her!

And, when you did give up how did it make you feel emotionally?

TBH I find it a bit of a chore now but I have loved the bond between us and the serious thought of giving up is making me a bit teary already!

Thanks in advance.

i am currently having to give up as i have a breast abcess.....
to wean off boobs you need to stop dc taking as much milk as they norammly would so it isn't replaced...but don't go cold turkey or you will engorge and dc may get an upset stomach due to quick introduction of formula.

I am giving my dd a small formula feed (3oz instead of 5)and letting her take remainder from the boob to stop engorgement(i know she is unlikely to get much/any hindmilk but this is for a short duration).....over the day boobs still filling up and feel full/uncomfortable....so by end of day i let her have a full feed off both boobs and then top up with formula if required.
Theory is the boobs haven't been suckled so much during the day that they won't refill so much.....eventually won't get engorged again and residual milk will dry up....meanwhile DD is transitioned to formula without too much trauma.
once given up, boobs may go smaller and you may see dried milk in the nipple ducts for a while, but no more engorged feeling.
