I'm looking at one of these to be able to feed and look after a toddler. Any experience of them?

no.but im facing the same prob. looks good

a good sling spreads the weight of the child more evenly over teh shoulder and back than this one does. TBH, there are better slings than this one out there. This one is designed like a ringsling but it is not as good as a ringsling.

have a look at the 'slings and backpacks' topic and go talk to the folks on there. They'll find you a better sling.

There's a 'slings and backpacks' topic? I'll pop over there then. Thank you!

it looks deep and dangerous- not quit as bad as this but would be careful.

mama2moo · 11/05/2010 16:32

Hijack - Hi Thandeka, how are you getting on?

Trafficcone · 11/05/2010 16:37

Looks like a bag sling to me. If you really want a pouch sling get a proper one like a Coorie, Peanut shell, Zolo etc and not some mass Market thing with buckles on it.
That said, it's far easier to feed in a wrap sling or ring sling.

Thandeka · 11/05/2010 16:43

Hijack back- waves at mama2moo- getting on great- DD is thriving and prognosis is "normal baby" pretty much! Huzzah! Still destroying my nips though but am now on antib's for a staph aureus infection deep in nipple crack so hopefully will heal! How you doing?

Chulita · 11/05/2010 19:14

I don't want a pouch sling, I just want something I can feed easily in, it's not too hard to put on, keeps my hands free and isn't a warm toasty wrap around. I always used a baby bjorn with DD but couldn't for the life of me work out how you're supposed to bf in it...

it isn't a bag sling. it looks more like the Babasling. Any sling can cause suffocation if a baby is not positioned properly in it

mama2moo · 11/05/2010 20:42

Thandeka That is brilliant news, I bet you are over the moon. Nightmare about your nipples, have you tried all of the creams on the market? I have Lanisohol (havent a clue how you sell it) and moved to MC own and mine healed straight away.

Im good thanks. Babymoo is 14 weeks old now!! I am sooooo broody already! DD is 2 next month - Scary!!

I am so pleased that everything has worked out with babythandeka for you

MummyJen2008 · 14/05/2010 15:23

I found the babasling excellent for breastfeeding particulary in public locations because it enables you to be discreet. I also found this to be a great and very comfortable sling. It took a few goes and making sure the instructions were fully understood before i was a master at it and able to wear it comfortably and safely, but now i couldnt live without it and dont know how i would manage to bf so easily and conveniently!!

FlipFantasia · 14/05/2010 21:33

Another hijack for Thandeka - hello . I've also got a crack that just won't heal - have tried silver cups, jelonet and lansinoh - been trying things for weeks! It's not getting worse but is not really getting better either iykwim and it's a bit painful after a feed. The cracks on the other nipple healed fine so I just don't know what to do (will I have it the whole time I BF?). I'm curious about the staph infection you mention...can you give me a bit of info on it?

PS ruddy great news about your DD's prognosis
