Teat flow

Hi, I've just started supplementing bf with formula at night as I feel my supply is low and DD is not gaining weight very quickly even on the 0.4th centile. I have the Avent bottles and teats. He takes the teat no problem and guzzles the milk in no time. I feel the flow on the teat is too high. It actually drips when the bottle is tilted. It is a size 1. Some milk even drips from the corner of his mouth as I feel he can't swallow it quickly enough.
Do all teats drip like this or is there something wrong with the ones I have? If I want a slower flow what are the choices?

Thanks

If he's used to bf, the slower flow from a teat with smaller holes may frustrate him. As long as he is not choking constantly through the speed of the milk entering his mouth, I think you should stick to the ones you have.
In my experience most teats drip, which is why some babies become lazy about bf once they get used to a bottle- they don't have to work to get the milk.
I'm not up to date with teat options cjcor, it's been a good few years

Most teats are like that and the more he has a bottle the better he hopefully will drink.

There are several systems on the market that mimic breastfeeding closer like The Breastflow Bottles available at Mothercare for example.

Thanks for the info. I bought a breastflow to try. I don't want him to get confused with the breast.
