and blood came out (where milk usually does) and it made me feel sad.

did he do it deliberately?

DD (17 months) has been nibbling a bit recently, and wriggling about.
It makes me feel too so I can empathise.
Do you think it was on purpose?

ChocOrange05 · 06/05/2010 12:59

Yes it was on purpose - he did it yesterday too. Yesterday he did a little tentative bite and I said no, at which point he bit down really hard - I could tell he knew he was doing something that would have an effect.

But today blood came out of a milk hole - is that ok? Will it hurt if I feed him tomorrow.

Anyone had this and got past it, is it time to stop?!?!

Very confused and a bit sad about it all.

No, you don't have to stop if you don't want to. At 18 months he is old enough to understand if you say "NO BITING" very firmly - he probably understands if you say "Ouch" as well. If DS bites I take him off and offer him something else to bite like a teething ring or a slice of apple or something saying "You can bite this instead, but no more milk"

Have you got any lansinoh left from when he was tiny? If not, any cream like savlon, sudocrem, etc will help them heal up, but don't put it on just before you feed him.

ChocOrange05 · 06/05/2010 13:57

Its cut on the inside Bertie (can't see anything on the outside but blood came out the hole ) so not sure Lanisoh will help??

I don't want to stop - hopefully its just a phase!

I sympathise, DS bit a few times when teeth were new and weird things to try out but about a month ago (when he was about 17m) he bit me the way you describe, although not hard enough to draw/cause blood to appear. I said very firmly, 'NO MUMMY IS NOT FOR BITING.' and he giggled and did it again! I too find it weirdly very upsetting and personal!

Anyway I soon sussed when he was in a 'oooh biting mummy is hilarious' kind of mood and he is not allowed milk when he's all wired...
