How much formula for a 10 month old?

My ds2 is having an 8oz bottle at around 7am, 3pm and 6.30pm. Some days he will drain his 3pm bottle and other days have 3-5oz. Could i knock that bottle off, give him less or give him whole cows milk? Last time he was weighed, at 8mth old, he was 22lb 2oz

I use cows milk in his cereals or sauces.

He has 3 meals a day and water with his meals.

I can't remember what ds1 was having at this age

I think with my 1st DS I swapped forumla to a cup for the 3pm feed so he would take a couple of ounces with a small snack.

Theyre not supposed to drink cows milk till 12 months.

What formula is he on, my DD was still having 3 bottles till prob 12 mnths but as you say hitting and missing withthe middle 1 depending on how much she ate but is was the 2nd stage that compliments eating IUKWIM.

Wow hes a big boy

Youl prob fine that he will nock it out himself, if hes happy and healthy i would just go with it im a great belever in they do things themselves.

He can have cows milk in cooking or cereal as Phoenix says, just not as a main drink.

Hi Phoenix - I have the same issue as you and am also thinking of dropping a bottle. In fact mine were weighed at 22lb mark at 9 months and the health visitor suggested dropping a bottle then.
I plan to change the am bottle to cows milk as they really fill up in the morning on ready brek and are showing less interest in that milk feed.

I wish I'd read all that properly, please ignore me.

I am blaming the wee glass of wine in my hand

Fitzy72 · 01/05/2010 21:55

cows milk is fine to give as a drink as long as the main drink is formula/breast. the milk is meant to be full fat though.

Thanks for all the replys.

Ds1 was at a party from 1-3pm today so ds2 had had his lunch before we went and he nibbled on bits of ds1's food so he didn't bother with his bottle.
