I Bf my Ds1 but have to move to formula for DS2 who is 6w because I have to start medication for parkinson's. I have no idea what a good routine wld be - how do you space out feeds? Also what if they don't drink a whole serving? Do you add in another top up feed? Am feeling a tad lost ESP as I am upset about having to make the change in the first place. Help!!

I know it is really hard but I would try and feed on demand as much as possible, especially in the hotter weather. There are various threads on here about making up bottles quickly if you need to, although I know it is a pain.

General guide would be 2.5-3hrs between feeds. Make up 1oz more than ds takes so you know when to up the amount given and aim to space out to 4 hourly feeds by 4 months. Do look at formula tin for suggested amounts to take based on weight etc, but don't get too hung up on it. My dd never took as much as it said but was very content to go 3hours min from day 1. The idea behind spacing feeds is of course to allow the food to be digested adn to give the baby's system a chance to rest between feeds. I always worried that ff on demand would be just too much for such a small gut whereas spacing gives time for digestion. Also with ff you know how much lo has had and so if he seems unsettled between feeds it must be something else if you know he has had about the right amount. HTH

Quilting, I remember your other thread. Was it confirmed there is no alternative to switching to FF?

I FF DS from birth and I was trying to go on 3 to 3 1/2 hours between the feed. I use the quantity that the mw told me in hospital and then used my common sense to increase the quantity as I could notice that DS was still hungry. Ask your HV to tell you about how much you should feed your DS.
I do not reuse the milk left in the bottle, I just pour it down the drain (but my DS eats all of it everytime!)
Good luck!
