9 wk old DS2 was a month early (born 35+6) and was absolutely healthy but has always had a problem stopping breathing while having a few sucks then coming off, gasping for breath and choking on milk. He's over it v quickly but has obviously taken on some gas in the process, also when he is breathing, you can hear lip smacking and bubbles being swallowed. He gets more and more upset on the breast between feeding and then won't feed any more until he's burped properly (which is v difficult to get out). Also he farts a LOT and needs help to get these out. He cries uncontrollably early evening and needs a lot of rocking to settle him.

What is wrong and is there anything I can do to help? Have been trying to use infacol more consistently but there's not an obvious pattern of it helping. I did wonder whether he's got something wrong with his nose or a tongue tie that is causing the taking on of so much gas. Or should I just get my latch checked? I'm quite lazy in terms of positioning - would that affect what's happening? I BFed DS1 until he was nearly 1 so I feel I should know what I'm doing more.

sounds like it could be overactive letdown, or oversupply... have a look on kellymom.com for more on those.

he might be better if you feed lying down, or leaning back with him above you
