Does breastmilk count as a drink? (stupid question)

Hello! May I forewarn you that the following question may just be the most stupid ever posted on mn.

My 6 and a half month old has started solids and is enjoying. However, he doesn't like to drink at all- I've tried bottle, cup, sippy cup and he just pulls away. He still breastfeeds quite a lot (about 5/6 times a day, and then more at night). Do I need to worry that the only fluid he gets is breastmilk?

See. Told you it was stupid.

Nope you dont need to worry remember he survived all those months without any solids - also if you are giving purees / fruit there is a lot of liquid in that. So long as he's having regular nappies you neednt worry.

Not stupid at all.

Many people, including health professionals, would probably tell you that additional fluids other than breastmilk are essential once solids are introduced. With all my three children, however, breastmilk was virtually the only fluid throughout their first year of life, and they were/are fine. Hth

Nah that's not a stupid question. Stupid would be: 'what quantities should I mix breast milk and formula powder to be mix feeding'.

DD refused all other fluids for the first ten months. DS nicked her water at seven months, each is different, each is fine. Well done for getting this far with breastfeeding!
