Questions about expressing

Hi,
I am 36 weeks pregnant with no. 2 and have a couple of questions about expressing.
First, some background:
DS born at 34 weeks and tube fed - never took to breast feeding. I expressed for him for 4 months but never produced enough milk so he was topped up.
Currently pregnant but have a very low lying placenta and breech baby so am booked in for CS at 39 weeks (if i get that far!)
Am desperate to BF and will obviously try this first BUT am happy to express again if need be.
BUT had very little help from hospital first time so have some questions:
When should i start on the breast pumps? Neonatal started me off on day 2 but midwives on general ward said electric pumps should not be used until milk come in?
I never expressed much for DS so how can I increase milk supply?
Am not and have never leaked during pregnancy - does this mean i could have issues with undersupply?
Turned into an essay, thanks for reading and any help appreciated!

i found it a struggle to get breast pump in the hospital to be honest but i demanded it on night of day 3 (had to cry to get it but that is a whole other story) and although we didn't get much out at least it was stimulating my nipples a bit since DD was in NICU and wasn't latching on at that stage. By morning of day 4 my milk had started to come in so was very glad I had pump ready. I was also hand expressing during that time.

Thanks for your messages!
I didn't get much milk at all hand expressing but will perhaps give it another try.
Thandeka I well remember that there was only one pump for the entire ward and myself and another lady always seemed to want it at exactly the same time - I lost my sense of humour about it at three in the morning!

yeah I had my own on one postnatal ward but then I got moved rooms to be roomed in with baby and then I had to share- is a nightmare!

I now have one at home I have hired- clearly got too attached to them - i like looking like something out of an H.R geiger painting!
