I would like to wean 1yo DD from bfing - any tips?

For various reasons (described below), I would like to wean my 1yo DD from bfing - any tips on this? She has never been keen to take a bottle, but has done when I've not been there (and under much protest), but last Thurs I went out (woo hoo! ) and DH did normal bedtime routine with a bottle and she went down fine.

So - anyone weaned from bfing at 1yo and how did you do it?

Main reason for weaning:
My DD seems to be dairy, egg and wheat intolerant (so far). No surprises on the dairy and egg as DS (3.5 is too) and that runs in our family. However, whereas DS was on Nutramigen top-ups from 9 weeks and exclusively on it from 20 weeks, have perservered with bfing DD and excluding these foods from my diet.

Now she's 1 and still having disrupted nights due to bad wind and discomfort so I'd like to stop bfing so we can try exclusion diets and not worry about whether something I've eaten is affecting her.

She won't touch Nutramigen with a barge pole - who can blame her, it tastes vile , but HV and Nutritionist seem to suggest Oatmilk will be okay now she's 1 (she has this on cereal anyway).

Have posted in allergies too.

Thanks in advance!

Thinking of weaning my one year old too. We do not need to worry about allergies but he does not take that much cow's milk.

I thought I need to get my husband to do the bedtime routine for a few days. Not sure how well it will work as I had a sickness bug the other day and still had to feed him before bed as he would not go down!
Then in the morning I think I will have to give breakfast as soon as we get up.

I hope you get some good tips and it goes smoothly as possible for you

I didn't have allergy issues but stopped at 13 months. DD2 was down to 2 feeds a day at that point so swapped first one for breakfast, and a couploe of weeks later dropped night one. She wouldn't drink milk from a bottle or cup but eats a varied diet and slept through fine without it.

Thanks both. mum2JRC - I was thinking of trying over Easter Weekend, as DH will be here at bedtime 5 days in a row to help out (normally he works at least 4 late shifts a week and that means I have to get both DC to bed, which isn't such a problem nowadays, but I think it might be easier to get him to give her the bottle?)

Mnita - I think I could replace the morning one with breakfast okay - thanks for tip, but she really goes for the evening feed and even wakes after an hour if she hasn't had enough - ah well, shall see how it goes
