Morning!
Are your boobs suposed to feel full before each feed? My 10 week old is sleeping between 8 and 10 hours at night now. Obviously i'm full to bursting for the first feed of the morning, but for the rest of the day they stay quite soft. There does seem to be plenty of milk there though. I didn't last this long last time round, so want to make sure I'm on the right track.

And a couple of random questions:
When do the clocks go forward?

My daughter has taken to describing people by their skin colour (black nurse, black lady) and it's taken me back a bit. Skin colour isn't something that gets discussed in our house. Do 5 year olds suddenly become aware of differences like this?

Lollystar, it sounds like you're doing fine. 10 weeks is a bit early to be sleeping through, but as long as it's not affecting your supply, and he's gaining well, I wouldn't stress about it. As time goes on, your breasts get better at making milk as needed, and get less engorged, anyway.

The clocks go forward next weekend.

And no, that doesn't sound normal for a five-year-old - certainly neither of mine took to doing that. For them skin colour isn't a normal way to describe people any more than hair colour or height. Presumably somebody else in her life has been describing people this way?

EffiePerine · 23/03/2010 07:03

Once your supply settles down it's normal not to feel 'full'. If feeding is going well don't worry! And congratulations on getting this far.

Clocks go fwd this weekend.

No idea about the last one, sorry! Maybe something she's heard at school? Chat on how we all look different?

Dd is 6 and has been discussing skin colour at length since at nursery.

You've got some great answers to the first question so I'll just second the congratulations on getting to 10 weeks

Clocks at the weekend

My ds is 3 and describes people by colour sometimes (makes the coal delivery man laugh as he is white but covered in coal dust so ds calls him black ) I think it is pretty normal as they start to be aware of differences. For me it is just the same as him telling me the different colours of dog that we see when we go out.

My 4 year old frequently describes people as light and dark, she often asks if our baby is going to be light or dark I am sure it's nothing racist but an observation on her part as we're quite pale but my husbands family are middle eastern and are much darker.

My Boobs were like yours by 10 weeks, you have plenty, its just your body has settled down.

Well done for getting this far x

Can't comment on dark/ light as my DD is only 2 and a half...

lollystar · 23/03/2010 09:24

Brill, thanks for the answers. Good to know I'm doing well. I really regret giving up so easily last time so am really determined this time! If only I'd have come on MN a bit more at the time... ah well.

DD and I had a chat about how everyone is different and that it's a good thing. I suppose it stands out to her as we don't live in a very diverse area, hopefully just an observation on her part.

10 weeks bf and great sleeping - sounds fab to me

And at least your DD doesn't say "that lady's got a fat tummy, she must be having a baby"
