Bottle feeding advice out and about

I recently lost my milk through illness - my baby son is now six weeks old. Apart from being emotionally devastated - I feel quite overwhelmed at the prospect of leaving the house now. I'm quite daunted by the logistics of bottle feeding on the go.
It's much easier to pack a pair of boobs!
Can anyone offer advice on the easiest bottle fedding reigmes for a day out?
Is it easier to take cold milk and warm it up while out (perhaps with thermos water) or do I take bottle out hot and look to cool them down? Any particularly handy products?
thanks.

A thermos flask is your best bet as the water needs to be over 70 degrees in case there re ny bugs in the powder s it is not sterile.

You cn get little pots which you mesure the powder into at home so you have the right mount esily to hand.

Sorry my A key is rubbish and typing one hnded.

if you find it really dauting then just take a sterilised bottle and a little carton of pre-made milk.

I agree with Seona1973.

I wasn't able to breastfeed for similar reasons to you cmat and was very stressed at the beginning with the logistics of bottle feeding on the go.

We soon got into a routine though. I take one/two sterilised bottles out and one/two cartons of the pre-prepared milk (depending on how long you intend to be out for) and a small pair of clean kitchen scissors (wrapped in foil then a muslin to keep clean and safe) to open the milk carton. I am a bit of a hygiene freak so I take some kitchen roll to place on the surface that I am using to make up the bottle.

This takes away all the worry of carrying boiled water, milk powder, getting the temperature right etc when out and about. My little girl always takes the carton milk at room temperature but I have got a little bottle warmer which can be popped in your change bag if you want to warm it up.

Hope this helps. You will soon be doing this all with your eyes closed! x

cmat - you sound very upset about stopping bf.

You could probably restart, you know....if you want to know more, just ask.

It is very unusual to lose milk through illness - what can happen is a temporary drop, or a temporary effect on the let down. Milk does not disappear permanently.

So shout up if you want to find out how to bring it back

I prepare my formula (12 hours worth) in the morning, using the method on the formula pack (i.e. boiling water that has cooled a for 30 mins or less) and stick in the fridge til needed.

Then if I'm going out I'll take one with me for the first feed, then an empty bottle and a carton of ready made formula for any subsequent feeds.
