"Mummy? You're just a big cuddly drink who can walk around"

Ds is nearly 2 and a complete boob monster. He can't yet express his opinion of me quite so eloquently but I think his big sister may have hit the nail on the head with this description.

"He thinks you're just a big cuddly drink who can walk around, doesn't he mummy?" she says, rolling her eyes as ds maintains his dogged campaign to be allowed to bf the whole day long.

Care to share your children's take on breastfeeding?

oh i love that i think my ds feels the same way (20mo)

MrsSawdust · 21/03/2010 09:26

If my 19mo dd had the language skills she'd say the same

MrsSawdust · 21/03/2010 09:28

Actually what she does say when she wants to feed is "Milk ... Milk ... Milk ... Side ... Side ... Side"

This is because whenever I'm preparing to bf I say to her "Which side are we on?"

MaMight · 21/03/2010 10:13

That's sweet. Ds takes an interest in which side we're on too. One of his first sentences was "Uvver one Mum".

haha, I love such stories.
My DS (almost 2) wakes up in the night to come to my bed for a feed and I can hear him running down the hallway going "boobie-boobie-boobie-boobie". And of course when he empties the first "Dis done. Boobie??".

Aren't toddlers as sweet as they are irritating?

Comewhinewithme · 21/03/2010 13:23

DD is 10 months old and has just started saying "Mummma booby" .

chipmonkey · 21/03/2010 14:19

Aw that's lovely!

I always remember Spidermama's ds saying "Ugga shide" which was adorable!

boober · 21/03/2010 14:22

My oldest ds still has the occasional bf at 3.5 (am bf his younger brother too). I gave him some milky bar as a bribe one day whilst out shopping. He loved it and announced to the whole supermarket that it tasted just like milkies!

TulipsInTheRain · 21/03/2010 14:25

ds2 has no speech yet but has taken to randomly sticking his hand down my top and giving a squeeze to check they're still there... bit in the middle of tesco or toddler group!

he also like to avail of both boobs at once, one for milk and the other for nipple twiddling.... and he wonders why i won't feed him in public

ds1 used to say 'I lub mama milk... it my favourite'

babyphat · 21/03/2010 14:43

my 18mth dd a couple of months ago got up from a feed and said 'lovely milk mummy cuddle'!

also sometimes stops halfway through a feed, stretches up for a kiss, and then gets back down to business

oh, and 'dee-yishus!' (she can't say 'l' yet!)

less cutely, lately as she has a cold, it's been 'snot on milks!', and wiping my nipples clean with my shirt...thanks kiddo

MaMight · 21/03/2010 16:09

Ahh yes, the delights of breastfeeding a child with a cold. Ds sometimes looks up at me accusingly and points out that there is snot on my boobs, in the manner of someone complaining about a fly in their soup.

lol at the fussiness
Occassionally when i'm feeding both DS tells me he wants to swap and helpfully suggests "DD have dat one mummy"

BouncingTurtle · 21/03/2010 17:36

I asked Ds if mummy milk tastes better than chocolate, and he answered with a very firm "yes".

He now has one side, then demands "more". And points at my boob and says "that!" to indicate which side he wants as well!

Brollyflower · 21/03/2010 21:58

"Mmmmmm... [big grin plastered over her face] this one tastes like vanilla, and this one tastes like chocolate" dc2 aged 2 and a half

When suffering with a blockage "Shall I help to make your breast feel better?"

BertieBotts · 21/03/2010 23:06

I just said "Awwwwwwwwww" very loudly

DS doesn't have a word for milk yet (17 months) but he does lots of frantic signing which is very cute.

I like the line about toddlers being as cute as they are irritating. I often think this when DS is wrapping his entire body around my head like some kind of limpet when I am trying to get him to go to sleep.

wastingaway · 23/03/2010 00:02

DS first word was 'boob', and it's now 'booby' or 'Mummy's milk'.

I've started feeding him downstairs in the morning, so he starts chanting 'stairs, booby, stairs, booby' when I go to get him out of his cot.

He also stands in front of the sofa, patting my seat saying 'sit down' when he's decided it's time for a feed.
