How do I choose a breast pump?

With DS1 I used two different pumps - an electric Medela pump I borrowed from a friend (I think it was this one) and a manual Tommee Tippee one.

Although the TT one was more naturally shaped, I found it really painful - far to much suction on my nipples led to quite a lot of pain and I didn't use it much.

The Medela one was ok but quite noisy, and used to put DH off when watching TV

I know there are plenty of different pumps out there and just wondered what criteria I should use to find one that suits. Can anyone help? Thanks

I had a medela swing, it was relatively quiet but still makes a distinctive dooshdooshdoosh noise! I really liked it and found it worked well.

Criteria - I would just decide by budget tbh and what you will need it for - EG a manual for occasional use, medium priced electric for regular use, fancy £££ double pump if working fulltime and expressing for a young baby.

Or, just buy a Medela Swing

DH can use earphones or sod off lump it

I have a Medela Swing and really like it, although for the first couple of weeks when milk was gushing out I think a double pump would have been better. You can hire a hospital grade double pump directly from Medela for £40 for a month.

Other than that... My criteria were cost and how fast/non-soul destroying it would be.
