Is your baby fairly young still? In the early days with both DS1 and DS2 I wore HD's shirts over a stretchy vest top and pj or tracksuit bottoms - something cosy that I could slouch around in - or my favourite maternity wear pieces that were easy to BF in and after around 8 weeks my body started settling down to a smaller size.

Kathyjelly · 08/03/2010 15:38

I gave up on all those complicated cross-over, unhooking things specifically designed for bf mums.

Lots of stretchy lycra tops especially ones with inbuilt bra-shelf from Gap, loose-fit cardigans and a pashmina (well it is cold out!) worked for me. It might not make London fashion week but at least it was comfortable.

DS2 is 2 weeks old. I lived in leggins and jumper dresses when pregnant but they are too long to breast feed in, I only have 1/2 stone to go but my hips are soooooooooooooo much wider now nothing fits!

I miss my jeans........

buy shirt dresses / tunics with buttons to put over the leggings
eg this or this

wear normal top or vest underneath
to feed, undo buttons and hitch vest up

O MrsB Want to help me shop in Oxford tomorrow?

Thank you for starting this thread tryingtobe

I feel your pain. I'm so fed up with having to plan what to wear around getting a boob out . I've found this good and wear it loads with leggings or jeans. After having to dress for a bump it's a pain having to carry thinking about how to dress. Also found vests with a top/ shirt and cardigan work well too.

Megletwantsittobesummer · 08/03/2010 21:34

I liked breastfeeding vests from H&M as I could layer them under normal tops.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 08/03/2010 21:47

I found the h+m tops good too, but I'm small of norkage and friends who had bigger norks than me didn't get on with them as well.

Cheap vest tops were good too. I wore those under a button up shirt/top, unbuttoned the outer layer and pulled the vest top down (so my tummy stayed covered) and felt comfortable feeding anywhere and everywhere like that.

It does get better as things settle down.

MrsBadger · 08/03/2010 21:55

sorry snortpigs, have prior engagement (nb who were you before?)

littler1 · 08/03/2010 22:50

I find belly bump bands (3 for £10 at new look) great, just wear them higher up around your boobs with a low cut V neck jumper or top over the top. pull the top down and the bump band up for v discreet feeding. Or Tesco do crop tops that can work in a similar way and can wear pads in them so no bra needed!

Yzzil · 09/03/2010 11:18

I love my Boob breastfeeding vests. They are really expensive in thw shops (about £30) but I got some on Ebay - £25 for 4. Much better than the drop clasp ones which I found got confused with the bra claps.

I wear them under regular long sleeved T-shirts and it stops everyone seeing my elephant skin tummy.

motherofsnortpigs · 09/03/2010 20:45

Shopping trip COMPLETELY fruitless. Probably my own fault as I got hungry and so did DS so we went to a cafe instead.

I am loving all the tips though and one day I will buy some clothes. I expect to be feeding for some time...

MrsB I've always been me. Just happen to remember you commenting on a reference to Headington I made in a previous post so I know you are in/near Oxford.

MrsBadger · 09/03/2010 21:55

aha I remember now

are you coming to the Phoenix tomorrow for the Banksy film?

mummyoftwosoon · 10/03/2010 09:57

I know the feeling when everything fits but not at the bust!
I have to had to have shirts unbuttoned to below the bust with a vest underneath, works well :-)
