Washable breastpads

snugglejunkie · 06/03/2010 18:10

After nearly 4mths, the breastpad mountain starting to rival nappy mountain and I'm planning to bf for at least 9mths-year.

Lively let down means that I get through at least one pair in the day and one at night, tho at mo a few more due to growth spurt upping my supply somewhat!

Pads expensive & not v 'green' (use biodegradable nappies to help assuage guilt!)

So... reusable ones. What's good?

I like Boots own brand; not Avent which end up feeling like cardboard. But Boots have a lower level of absorbtion, I suspect - because they're thinner (and therefore show through your clothes less).

HTH

Dang, I love mine (bought them before having DS, still using them nearly 9 months later!) BUT I can't find the product on the NCT shop anymore ? I think they were Lansinoh. They come in packs of 4 and have a subtle cone shape with a double padded area where the seam is, for extra absorption ? HTH?

Do use the net washbag that comes with them, otherwise they'll eventually disintegrate in your washing machine and clog it up and you'll have to get someone out to fix it twice .

Angel - think I best avoid Boots ones then coz they may not handle my spurty goodness, making for much !!

I actually currently use Lansinoh disposables as after much first hand experience, I've found them to be by far the best. Looked in boots and on their site for some washables and couldn't find any so presumed they didn't do any. However I've now done a web search for them after your comments Nelvana and found some - will order.
And make sure I use a net washbag

Great Snugglejunkie hope you like them as much as I do!! I ended up with 8 pairs in all which is just about enough (use only 1 pair/24 hrs) have a box of disposables to bridge the gaps when needed.

BTW I never used a washbag (the Lansinoh ones don't come with one), they have stood up to a LOT of washes well.

hi girls
i have been feeding for 7 months now and boots own the best!
DO USE THE WASHING NET OTHERWISE THEY WILL CLOG UP MACHINE TO THE TUNE OF £50 !!

draggedthroughahedgebackwards · 06/03/2010 21:15

Definitely not Avent if you have a lively let down. I was wearing two at a time and still they were soaking through! I moved on to eco friendly disposables which I found to be much better.

I use the lanowool washable ones, got them from the NCT online shop and they were recommended i think on the TIPS website. They are great and absorbent enough for me. I don't think lansinoh do their reusable ones anymore I couldn't find them on their website at all.

Stayinthelines · 06/03/2010 21:29

I used mothercare washable ones- they seem to do the job and come with a net bag (so avoiding washing machine breakdowns as mentioned above!)
