Should I be more meticulous

I am breastfeeding my daughter who seems to have a lot of very explosive runny dirty nappies. When she leaks on her vests, sleepsuits etc I pop them in a nappy bucket with some handwash washing powder to soak. I then rinse them in the sink with vanish before popping them in the wash with her other clothes. I always disinfect the sink afterwards but suddenly wondered if other people use sanitising solution on clothes to soak and whether I should pouring the water that soaked the clothes in the loo.

Am I being a bit mucky? Please can you tell me what you do?

Poopy clothes go straight in wash with other stuff. As long as reasonably warm/hot wash I think you'll survive. After all our poopy (breastfed pre weaning) nappies go in the washing machine too (though not with other clothes)

You're more meticulous than I am! I rinse the dirty clothes (either in the sink if it's not bad, or hold it in the loo while flushing if truely horrid), then soak it in vanish powder solution in an old wash bowl till the next wash. No one has died or caught anything horrid, and rarely are the clothes stained. Occasionally I pop the rinsed wash bowl in the dishwasher.

If you are worried, ironing the clothes will kill any remaining germs.

why not put your nappies & poo-stained clothing in on a cold rinse in the washing machine then do a normal wash? That's what I do.

I used to just stick them in the wash - no rinsing or soaking at all. Then would dry them outside which sorted the stains out (I still leave clothes to air outside even if it's snowing, dark or raining, it gets most food/organic stains out - useful when you start weaning as well)

If DS has had diahroaea caused by a bug then I make sure to wash everything at 60 or higher, or if not possible then I do tend to soak in milton. But for normal, baby poo, I don't think there's much nasty in there to begin with.

Oh yes I do a pre-wash and/or extra rinse if there are lumps
