Ds2 is 6 months, we're all coming down with the lurgy.
I've just taken normal dose of paracetamol, can I still give him Calpol? Can't take ibuprofen due to asthma and advised against giving it to kids due to family history.
Any info very much appreciated

Only a very small amount passes through to the breastmilk..he can only have 2.5ml anyway which is 60mg...if you take 1000mg every 4 hrs (2 500mg tablets) im pretty sure that bubs will get something out of it and wouldnt risk giving him a dosage...if he is hot due to bug, just keep him stripped off and covered with a light sheet to keep draft off him. You can also try a luke warm bath to keep temperature down, and can also help ease achy body. Feed him more often than normal, extra 10 minutes here and there to get more foremilk and If he seems dehydrated and having loose bowel movements you can give him dioralyte for children...but only give after hes had 6 'loose' nappies in 24 hrs. I Hope your lil man and the rest of you get better soon.

It should be fine - a minute amount goes through to breastmilk, and according to NHS Direct, for some reason children are much harder to overdose on paracetamol than adults anyway - it seems it doesn't affect them in the same way as it does adults. (This doesn't mean you shouldn't seek medical advice if you do ever accidentally overdose them btw!)

I would go with the lower dose on the label for him (e.g. if label says 2.5-5ml then go for closer to 2.5ml - check though, I haven't looked up the dosage) to be safe. But I am sure it will be fine.

He can actually get up to 20mg with every 100ml breastmilk, it takes an hour to go through into your breastmilk. So if he takes about 7oz every feed then he'l be getting 40mg...you can actually then give him a 2.5ml dosage of calpol as this will bring it up to 100mg which would be more than adequate...60mg/2.5ml would actually be fine ...when they sell any otc medicines for babies they tend to say go with the lower dose first and see how it goes, been as your breastfeeding Id stick to the lower dosage of 2.5ml.

I know I said I wouldnt risk giving him a dosage - and thats purely cause I wouldnt...and I also wouldnt give dd any meds unless she had a temperature or was in obvious pain (ear infection etc..)

I think as long as you personally dont take anymore than 1000mg in 4 hrs and you dont give him any more than 120mg in 4-6hrs (thats included in whats given to him in your BM) then he will be fine. a temp above 38.4'C would warrent paracetamol.

He also could get over the bug quicker than you as hes getting all the antibodies from you still.
