I was browsing the website of my local paper and this caught my eye. It's actually a positive article and she's asking for input.

i think determination and having the right support and advice are the key

What a fab article - would be nice to see it in the national press

I exclusively bfed for 6mo no issues with that, was reasonably easy and i am pretty stubborn....only i had difficulties in the first few weeks of bfing my first child.

I stopped bfing at 15 mo my first (as i was pg with the second) and about 14 mo with my second just because i didnt want to anymore....prob sounds awful but i just didnt, he was eating really well etc. and i just wasnt enjoying it anymore, i cvould have fed until two but i didnt want to and i felt it would be harder to wean an older toddler, perhaps based on my sil experiences, she weaned all hers at 2.

well yes apasrt from the first sentence is actually incorrect. they do not stipulate that people MUST breastfeed exclusively for 6 months. they said that it is recommended. and that the continuation til the child is at least 2 will provide optimal health and growth.

the people who are most successful I think are the ones who believe that breastfeeding is important, who have good family support, who have access to the right information and advice
