Hi, I've just found out that Heinz is to discontinue it's babyfood range. When my middle child was first born I was unable to feed him bymyself and he was ultimately fed on Farleys liquid milk at the hospital which we continued at home. We were then unable to purchase this milk as Farleys were bought out by Heinz. It was difficult to source for several weeks as they went through their rebranding period! Having rebranded the farleys milk Heinz then charged around 25% more for it (apparently it was adifferent product by that point....) anyway, my third child was born on Christmas Eve and happily I have been able to feed him myself, though I do top up his feeds again with the liquid milk. He was introduced to Heinz in hospital and so this is the brand I have continued to purchase for him. He has a couple of issues with his digestion and we include infant gaviscon to help him be more comfortable - the preservatives in the liquid milk also seem to suit him better than those in the powder. Anyway, we live on the Isle of Man and there are often supply issues with us being an Island, however I haven't been able to get his liquid milk for over a week from Tescos - when I enquired at customer services they told me that they weren't able to get it as their depo - that supplies all the Tesco's couldn't get it from Heinz. As soon as I got home I logged on to the Heinz web site to find the statement dated 19th February, announcing that they were discontinuing their baby food range. Apparently they are going to work closely with parents and allow a phase out period of several weeks (clearly not if you live in the Isle of Man!!!). Concerned about this, I contacted the hospital who knew nothing of this and are still providing mothers with the Heinz nurture ready mixed milk. I think it's a disgrace that Heinz clearly has a huge disregard for mothers of young babies when they seem to think it is acceptable to pull products off shelves to 'rebrand' them and then to completely discontinue supplies without any public warning. I am disgusted that I have had to seek this information out for myself as their public statement only appears on their web page as far as I can tell.
My advice for anyone at this point is to avoid Heinz, if you are lookoing for any continuity with your baby products as clearly, twice now they have failed to recognise the importance of this where young babies and their feeding are concerned!
