This is a bit of a self congratulatory post but what the heck

i realised today that i have EBF DD for nearly 19 weeks and i am going to make it to 6 months EBF

When i started feeding her i didn't think i would make it past the first week, and then i did - i learnt to feed laying down and co-slept

Everytime I came close to quitting there was a reason to carry on

i am so bloody proud of myself, especially as DD still feeds every 3 hours at night and i am knackered, but i am going to do it

i have posted a lot on MN and am grateful for the advice/solidarity and words of encouragement

WELL DONE!!!

I know what you mean about everytime you feel like quitting, you find a reason to give it another day (and usually the next day all is rosey!)
I'm only 7 weeks in, so am not as far along as you. I try and take each day as it comes and work out where I am in weeks to lift me! (so next week would be 8 weeks, which is 1/3 to 6 months! also worked out I've done 50 days breastfeeding service)
If only we got a medal!

PotPourri · 23/02/2010 16:00

Well done! Well done you!!!

Neeko · 23/02/2010 16:04

Well done! It's such an amazing feeling tolook at your growing and thriving baby and say "I did that!"

crikeybadger · 23/02/2010 16:30

You should feel proud of yourself rubyslippers
Breastfeeding takes alot of committment and determination.
My DS is nearly same ages as your LO, has been classified as failure to thrive and despite lots of pressure to FF, we've battled on with the BF.
Weight has been going up nicely and today the rather odd paed. doctor said that this was a punishing regime of night feeds and 'unnecessary' and somewhere in his spiel he managed to get the 'making a rod for your own back' cliche in ...

Anyway, we do deserve a medal, or at least six months supply of chocolate!

Jackstini · 23/02/2010 16:35

Fantastic!!! I remember reaching this milestone stage with ds after nipple shields, mastitis and a breast abcess and feeling phenomenal that I was going to make it.
Very well done - you deserve a treat now!

devilsadvocaat · 23/02/2010 16:39

well done! you've done so well esp with the crazy owl sleep patterns

i'm at 22 weeks and i can see the finishing line

btw do we get a prize or a medal or summit?

rubyslippers · 23/02/2010 16:44

thank you everyone and well done to you all too (and not in a patronising way)

it can be a long and hard slog at times

no-one i know in RL has or is breastfeeding so it is so nice to have MN to reassure me or pat me on the back

i have already eaten a lot of chocolate/cake - that is one of the huge perks of breastfeeding surely
