She's in agony and she's now 3 months so surely I can give Calpol. But have others done this and did it help at all?

i am not sure it will help at all..... my ds used to take a little gripe water as a distraction more than anything...... thing is with colic they become reliant on whatever you give them adn you rely on being able to give them it.... not sure becoming reliant on calpol is good but try a drop of gripe water.... ds has a dummy and often takes just 1ml of gripe water and his dummy and he is fine!!

OK, have now given gripe water and will sit back and watch but I thought they'd removed the key ingredient (gin).

No, not calpol. It's paracetamol. Have you tried Infacol??

Ledodgy · 20/02/2010 21:17

Try massaging her tummy in a clockwise motion and also try lying her on her back and cycle her legs backwards this helps release any trapped wind.

Tried Infacol - been using it for weeks now. Also done massaging but no use. She's really screaming tonight

We ended up with getting a vibrating/bouncy chair. Infracol helped reduce the severity, but didn't cut it completely out.

But I found that taking DS for a drive helped to settle him, so we got the chair to save my car which was on it's last legs.

The only issue with that was that sometimes we had to let him sleep in the chair (till the next feed at least) - but at 3 months the neck-strength is getting better.

I found infacol did nothing.

The only thing that worked with my daughter was Colief drops. Very expensive at £10 a bottle that's only as big as your little finger but if they work you can get them on prescription as I did. My daughter was horrendous with it and these really helped.

GuntherMcKilocodie · 21/02/2010 22:29

Agree, colief drops are fabulous-really sorted out both my DDs. Hideous isn't it? My DD2 is 18 weeks now though and it all seems so long ago.

are you sure its colic? if she's screaming more than usual its worth considering other things....like an ear infection? Colief good but only for lactose intolerance, you add it to the milk before feeding and it breaks all the lactose down. Its also a right pain in the arse to use if you are breastfeeding!
