Did you Breastfeed all the way or Formula some of the way?

I have two young ones close together (24 months and 7 months). DD six months won't take a bottle of anything. I'm knackered but don't want to stop bfeeding for at least a year if possible.
Any tips on helping her to take a bottle of either breast of formula?

Personally I'd get DD on to a cup ow, rather than a bottle, since you're planning on continuing bf until at least a year. Usually a soft spout one is more accepted, and small that they can learn to hold themselves. Non spill is often too difficult to use.

She must be starting solids now/soon, so you will almost certainly find you will be dropping a feed every month or so from now on, as she takes more solids. BF from 6 months onwards does get much less onerous.

we used the medela bottles to get DS onto a bottle. They are expensive but it worked and they have to suck for the milk to come out so that don't become 'lazy' sucking.

these DS doesn't have SN btw.

Thanks for the tips and links. Worth a try Choufler, though I'm suddenly wondering if the formula that I tried could have been the issue rather than the bottle as DH just told me she drank DS;s juice the other day! Lymond what kind of cup, can you name a brand? Thanks!

I bf all the way, am quite proud of that. I would introduce a cup of water, maybe offer a drop of organic cows milk occassionally and offer three good meals of solids a day at regular meal times (i did blw so it was always an offer iyswim). Then it you can quite easily move to a morning and bedtime feed (if thats what you want of course)

I too breastfed all the way to 14 months with DD (almost 3) and am currently bf DS 9 months, he will take water from a sippy cup, with his solids. To be honest, he was never happy with a bottle. He is still having approx 4 small feeds a day. Morning, afternoon, bedtime and unfortunately once in during the night. He quite likes a soft spouted one, I got it in Morrisons i think. I'm sure he would probably take milk from it, I've just never tried.

No Formula till 12 months ( I know he could have had cows milk but he was prem and needs the iron )

He took a bottle once at 4 months and decided that it wasn't for him.. never managed to get him to take another one. He uses a beaker now (14mo)

BLW = Baby Led Weaning

Where you donn't give mush but normal meals and let the child feed itself.

BLW

We did this with 2 of ours and loved it. You have to put up with a bit of mess but that's ok.

As for bottle, I would say avoid and go with a sippy cup, like the Tommy Tippee one linked. Just give water in it when eating.

No formula for either of mine. Aside from anything else they were/are milk intolerant/allergic, so it wasn't an option (and nutramigen is utterly vile).

Dd has been drinking cows milk too for about 18 months - 2 years (she turned 4 and had her last bf this month).

Ds (16 months) gets offered a bit of oat milk in a cup now too, but isn't all that keen.
