Annoying stuff my baby does whilst feeding

DS will be 6 months next week, and while I have no intention of quitting breastfeeding, I would like to have a little one-handed moan about how annoying he's being lately during feeds:

  1. Sticks little fingers straight up my nose
  1. Grabs my lower lip and gives it a yank
  1. Scratches/flicks my boob, bra strap, and anything else he can reach
  1. Pinches boob nonstop
  1. Whinges with nipple in mouth, then doesn't latch back on properly which is very uncomfortable
  1. Kicks and wiggles, pulling nipples with him
  1. Pulls off to grin at me, making it impossible for me to be annoyed for long

But really, short of tying his hands down and gaffer taping his head to my boob, is there anything I can do about any of it? I'm sure we're not far from biting too, not looking forward to that!

Oh yes, that's why I've gone from a special occasion contact lense wearer to a daily one - the strength of that grip is pretty impressive isn't it?

I remember reading a thread once about someone's ds who liked to latch on, roll onto his tummy, put his bum all the way up in the air, humming, while whacking his mum with the other hand. It made me snort my drink out of my nose.

It wasn't nearly so funny eight weeks later when dd started doing it...

Now my "favorite" of her tricks is the one where she latches on, sucks for about 30 seconds, realises - gasp! - we're alone, rolls over and sits up to have a chat, sees a nipple! and lunges forward to try and latch on from a sitting up position.

they're bonkers, all of 'em. honestly.

My 1st BF post. My DD3 (22mths) loves to blow raspberries with my nipple in her mouth, which doesn't bother me at all. I think they just like to make you laugh. She also poked my mums boob the other day and said boo boo. I think my mum was quite chuffed even though she never BF me. I told her she was honoured, as my dd hasn't done it to anyone else!
I bought a BF necklace but they just look obviously different & I think make a statement of 'hey look at me with my BF necklace on'. I prefer a variety of normal beaded necklaces which are sometimes cheaper. I must admit BF in cafes is too stressful now with the feet kicking tables etc so although I never really wanted to, I sometimes go to the toilet to do it. Day feeds are so quick now anyway unless its prior to sleep.

dd2 is virtually 1. my list is;

Hair pulling,
fingers in my mouth,
Hair pulling,
trying to steal my ipod touch whilst mning reading educational articles..
hairpulling
trying to stand up
hairpullig,
pulling off for a rest & then going from happy to incandecent with rage because I cannot react in microseconds to make milk available again
& did I mention hair pulling??

I mentioned the annoying iPhone grabbing but there is also the annoying arm reaching back to scrumple/flip the pages of whatever book or paper I might dare to try and read (I like to feed lying down cos it's restful - or at least it used to be!)

ladylush · 23/02/2010 11:44

Yeah I'd like to mention hair pulling again

YanknCock · 23/02/2010 13:23

You lot are not making BFing beyond 6 months sound at all pleasant!

As I type, I'm being pinched and kicked simultaneously. grrrrr.

oh, and boob punching and repetitive side-of-breast clawing ...

ladylush · 23/02/2010 17:58

Have to keep those nails trim

ladylush · 23/02/2010 17:59

trimmed even

trellism · 24/02/2010 12:04

dd has started grabbing my skin, pulling and twisting. She will also try and burrow under the clothing of anyone holding her if she's hungry.

I don't think anyone's mentioned hair pulling.

mamaduckbone · 24/02/2010 12:11

Yes to all of the above, scratching, scrabbling, pinching and hair pulling. But as you say the mid-latch giggles and grins make it all ok

YanknCock · 25/02/2010 17:05

Little update: DS turned 6 months yesterday, and to celebrate, the little $%^& bit me! Grrrrr. I yelped in pain, and he grinned that cheeky grin, then laughed when I said 'NO!'
