Cheap nursing t-shirts

Expecting DC2 in a few weeks. I used just 2 nursing tops when out and about last time and they're now very worn!

However, from looking online, the prices are astronomical. Apart from H&M (I'm hoping they still stock some), can anyone suggest anywhere that sells more affordable nursing tops please?

Thanks

I haven't got one single nursing top. I went into primark and bought a vest top in each colour (they're really long even on my 6ft self and are only £1.50 each) I just wear one under whatever I'm wearing, but pulled down so I can get my boob out.

Minimum exposure, minimum spending! :D

sheeplikessleep · 11/02/2010 11:44

Aha, good plan. So you pull down vest, pull up your normal top? I guess getting vests in 1 size bigger might help?
thanks for posting

tottaly agree with the primark vests they are fab!
i got them in every colour too i bought the correct size and just wear them under my boobs rather than over feels strange at first but sooooo much easier and you can wear whatever tops you want

GhoulsAreLoud · 11/02/2010 12:43

I got a couple of these www.bloomingmarvellous.co.uk/product.aspx?CategoryID=s-maternity&ProductID=13039&language=en-GB as maternity clothes.

They have b/feeding access too althouh I doubt I;ll use them for that as I do the vest under top thing too.

sheeplikessleep · 11/02/2010 12:59

thanks for posting - i'll definitely try the vest idea! i do have lots of summer vests anyway.
thanks again

I just make sure I have a vest I can pull down & a top over that that I can pull up - did buy some looser (1 size up) long line vests from New Look in the sale I think. H & M have got breastfeeding tops in the sale at the mo, as have JoJo - I got a bfing dress for £10!! But generally, with a loose vest top you can utilise much of your noemal wardrobe and expose v little!!

sheeplikessleep · 11/02/2010 14:36

Why didn't I know this with my 1st ?

Have look at breastvests if you can't find one stretchy enough to pull down.

katiepotatie · 11/02/2010 15:56

Yep, Vest top combo the best option.

confusedfirsttimemum · 11/02/2010 15:57

I don't have a Primark near me, but had the New Look vests for same thing. Spaghetti straps and stretchy cotton. Easily pull down under your boob in your normal size.

That said, I just flash now!

katiepotatie · 11/02/2010 15:58

Oh yeh and M&S vests have elasticated straps

loubielou31 · 11/02/2010 16:38

For someone who is new to BF and has been wondering what to wear this has been really helpful and I'm now off to primark. I have a couple of mothercare feeding tops but find the pull one bit up and another bit down and poke your nipple through a little hole combined with making sure the baby's in the right position really very complicated.

CrosswordGeek · 11/02/2010 21:06

The primark vests have adjustable straps, so you can put them at the loosest bit and they sit quite comfortably under your boobs too

It's good for being able to wear (generally) anything you like.

ErikaMaye · 11/02/2010 21:32

Another vote for primark vests!

HappyBagpuss · 11/02/2010 22:30

I recommend you use "Boob" nursing tops which are excellent - have been using only these for the last seven months - I've not found any better as they have a really discreet horizontal flap, really simple to feed with, and it fits well and has very durable material that you can wash many times without a worry.

You can get them for a good price (about £10)on ebay from the shop "maternity_wears" myworld.ebay.co.uk/maternity_wears?ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1181"
although the lady says she's relocating to the UK so may only be back late March. The main website is: "http://www.boobdesign.com/boob_eng.html"
or just search for 'boob nursing tops' - unfortunately they're a bit pricy when not on sale, but definitely worth it.

YanknCock · 11/02/2010 22:48

I got most of my nursing tops on ebay. Combo of Next Maternity, Blooming Marvellous, Mothercare (before they went all shite and started doing those 'discreet' double layered things where you end up exposing your entire side and most of your tummy when you feed).

sheeplikessleep · 12/02/2010 08:35

Thanks for posting - I'm definitely off to Primark this weekend!

Happybagpuss - I'll look up maternity wears shop too.

I'm a pull-down vest kinda girl too! I did get some BFing tops but they didn't work with my BFing bras so gave up with those pretty quick.

sunnybump · 12/02/2010 17:44

Day 5 of BFing my PFB today and I was wondering how I'm going to navigate feeding in normal clothes. The vest idea sounds perfect, and isn't going to cost a bomb, thank you

confusedfirsttimemum · 12/02/2010 18:44

It's great Sunnybump (not a bump anymore. Congratulations!). The other plus is that, when all your friends who have bought nursing tops are:

  1. Complaining that they are all too big now that they have lost a bit of the baby weight and their boobs have calmed down; and
  1. Sick of wearing the same outfit day in day out,

you can actually enjoy wearing some of your clothes again. Takes a few months mind (particularly if you were into fitted tops before)
