Breastfeeding and being advised to stop by mother...

Hi folks

DS is 12 weeks and I've been b/feeding from start. He's a big lad, thriving and quite demanding (foodwise) though he sleeps fairly well at night.
He's not in a 'routine' as such during the day and his frequency of feeds/naps changes daily. I'm finding this quite hard (especially as DD was 3 hourly like clockwork).
I've been feeling tired and run down too...and a bit low. Mum is telling me its the breast feeding, and is telling me to feel better I should stop feeding him.
Am off to see H/visitor tomorrow to get another opinion.
Anyone else agree/disagree with my mum?
I'loved b/feeding DD and hoped to feed him for 7 months as I did with her but its just not working out as before.
Biggest worry is stopping and still feeling like I do and regretting decision. Anyone help me?

I'm finding it so bizarre that most MNers have anti bf mothers as mine was so pro bf! I can't imagine anyone disapproving of it... what could be more natural than feeding your baby from your own milk? My mum is the opposite, v disapproving of mixed feeding. I struggled to get her to bottle feed my dd expressed milk when dd was v small! (only ever did it that one time, expressing was too much of a nightmare

My MIL was so anti breast because i think she was partly jealous that she was never given the option(or so she says) to breast feed as she spent many of my first weeks oggling my boobs while feeding, but maybe they feel they can't participate in the nurturing of the baby.

Anyway I started this message before, but ersed it by mistake. Ds was also large at birth, but I was determined to b/feed, which I did manage to do completely for 5 months, but I do remember my h/visitor saying to not make myself ill, because he would take alot of feeding, and I didn;t have aroutine for along time. My only regret is I didn't find MN sooner to help me with all those queries and worries while I was on maternity leave.

By the way don't mean to sound patronising, but you are making sure you drink enough in this hot weather too?
