My 9 month old won't take a bottle before bedtime

Hi

I stopped b/feeding my son when he was 8 months and he took to a bottle eventually, but it was a struggle. He is nearly 10 months old now and is completely uninterested in taking a bottle before bedtime. I usually feed him (solids) around 4.45 to 5pm, so I'm thinking he might got for the bottle around 7pm or 7.15, but no!
He eats solid food very well and he'll have 6 - 7 oz of formula in a bottle in the morning and about 3 - 5 oz in the afternoon. He's fine about the morning bottle, a bit fickle and uneager about the afternoon bottle and it's generally a no-hoper about the evening one! He always happily b/f before I put him in his cot at night, so I realise he's not keen on having a bottle. I tried different types of formula and am just pleased he's taking any at all, to be honest, as at first it was a mare changing over to a bottle.
At most he has about 12 oz I think during the day. He doesn't (generally) wake in the night and sleeps through until 7am. If he does wake, it's not about hunger ever.
The v helpful health visitor I've spoken to says not to worry as he can get his nutrients from the solids I'm feeding him (and he is on a v healthy balanced diet that's for sure). I've wondered if I'm feeding him too much, but I tried giving him less (as I was putting 2 oz formula in his dessert at teatime), but he still won't accept it.
If other people have had this experience and want to share what they've done or not done, that would put my mind at rest.
Thanks.

Maybe swap the afternoon bottle for a drink of water and see if that makes a difference? TBH, if he is sleeping through, and eating well, don't worry!! As you said, they should be getting most of their nutrients from food anyway and not having a bed time bottle is not always a bad thing as this can be a tough habit to break!

My DD refused to have much formula and I eventually had to give up and resort to milk alternatives as I was concerned about her getting dehydrated. It's a long story and probably not your case but it turns out, she knew what she was doing keeping herself away from milk as she is mildly intolerent and gets her calcium from cheese which she is fine with.

Congratulate yourself, you lucky thing, you will never have to wean him off a bedtime bottle! My DD1 did exactly the same thing at 9 months, just refused the bedtime bottle (also previously breast fed) so I stopped trying and just made sure she had a nice big drink of water (or later cow's milk) with her tea. Don't worry at all. Well done your DS

My nearly 10month old very rarely takes a bottle before bed. He has 6oz when he wakes up, again around 11ish (although his interest in this bottle is fading) 6oz at 3pm and occasionally, but very occasionally he'll take an oz or 2 before bed.

He also has dinner at 5pm and sleep 7pm-8am so I figure he's getting enough food!

I just use formula in food like cereal etc, He's is also getting calcium from yoghurts/cheese etc.
