Nursing cushion - worth getting?

I struggled with BFing first time round and am hoping this time will be better. I just never seemed to get a consistently good latch, some feeds were okish but others were agony so I probably gave up too easily. My friend suggested I get a nursing support cushion - will it help, or is it just another gimmick?

Yes it helped me loads. Though any V shaped pillow would be fine.

i got this one when ds was 6 weeks old, and it's great - wish I'd had it sooner!

I liked the support of having the baby raised up a bit, and bought a V shaped pillow, but any old pillow would have done really. The specific nursing pillows are a bit of a rip off imo; my V pillow cost £10, with two covers at the local mill shop...I used it a lot when pregnant as well; for back support on the sofa and in bed as well.

Having used the widgey pillows at the children's centre, I can't see why they are sooo expensive so I wouldn't buy one of those, although if you can find a nursing pillow that has pockets round the sides for the remote control and a foldaway book stand built in it might be worth the extra!!

If you get one make sure it is firm. I bought a V shaped nursing pillow but it was too floppy. So I ended up using just a firm pillow to bring DC up to the right height and it was all good.

I use the V pillow for reading in bed

much cheaper from Argos

I had one of those and quite like it. Was useful for when DC were at the 'sitting up but wobbly' stage too...

i had a widgey one - like a c shape. i never got on with it so it has practically never been used. i'd try a regular firm pillow or similar before you invest maybe?
