BF lying down without arm going numb?!

Not sure anyone can help with this as I just can't see a way round it! Just can't picture it.

Anyway, I co-sleep and BF DS (11 months). I've got severe carpal tunnel syndrome (soon to be operated on on one side), and when I feed DS, I quickly get very uncomfortable.

I lie on my side, and the top arm is okay, but what can I do with the other one?

In order for DS to be able to get at my nipple, I have to have the arm stretched out at right angles from me along the bed. I think this is no good for my poor tethered nerves, and my arm quickly fills with pins and needles and goes numb. I'm lying there begging him to finish (in my head!).

This is now making me panic a bit about what I'll do with next DC (had positive preg test yesterday!! yay!!). I want to co-sleep and BF, but with those first, long feeds, I'm going to be in agony!!

ANyone found a way to deal with this????

I keep the bottom arm up above my head, sometimes rest head on it, sometimes not. weirdly my top leg gets really stiff though, don't know why. Am also co sleeping with 6 mo old ds.

I have my arm under the pillow bent at the elbow so my hand is under my head, with the pillow in-between and my other hand holds the babies back. When I used to do this. Does this make sense?

May not help you though.

CONGRATULATIONS on the positive test! If you're having an operation, maybe things will be better by the time the baby comes along? Although I confess I have no idea what carpal tunnel syndrome is. Hope everything goes well though.

Once again, huge congrats lovely x

Thanks am so over the moon, while being slightly scared.....

thanks both of you for advice.

Yes, I may try my arm under my head again. Before, this just made my arm go numb as well, but maybe if there's a pillow in between.

Otherwise, I guess I just grin and bear it, as it's preferable to sitting up!
