When to stop sterilising

I've broken the steriliser - oops!

Ds is 10mo. When do I stop sterilising his bottles? Do I need to buy a new steriliser. BTW we wash his stuff in the dishwasher if that makes a difference.

you could have stopped a few months ago - dishwasher is fine

You don't need to sterilise at all. DS2 has never had anything sterile. I just give things a good wash and bung in the dishwasher. DS2 is 9 months old and very healthy.

Yup, you can stop. When DD was born she was in the baby unit for a few days so I was expressing for her. I was told sterilizing wasn't necessary and never have, I just put everything in the dishwasher.

If it's not necessary for a poorly newborn then it's certainly not necessary for a healthy 10 month old!

Dd is coming up 6 months and I plan to stop then.

IMHO, there is zero point in sterilising bottles when they are on solids (and you don't sterilise the dishes and spoons) and they are crawling arounnd in all sorts!

Oh fab! I was worried about the milk being a germ's ideal home but guess I can relax!

If the DC had had formula I probably would have sterilized until six months, just to be sure. BM is antibacterial.
