In a few weeks I'll be taking my DD to Australia for a family holiday. She'll be 22 weeks when we go, and is excl breastfed.

My question is, will breastmilk continue to be all she needs in a very hot climate (particularly given how much of a shock it could be as all she's known is this freezing country!!) or should I start to give her some water? We'll be in Brisbane which can get verrrrrry hot in feb.

Also should I be expecting the feeds to increase around then as she gets ready for solids and needs more calories and will water confuse that?

TIA

Your milk will adjust and get more watery if that's what she needs so make sure you stay very hydrated yourself.
Personally I would supplement with cooled boiled water. It won't interfere with the feeding. She may actually want to eat less when she is hot. Just follow her lead, keep cool and well hydrated and you'll both be fine.

No, she won't need water. Your milk will adjust and be all that she needs - although you might find she feeds a lot more than you are used to to keep herself hydrated.

Don't forget the sun cream and sunshade for the buggy! (Very )

As long as you feed on demand, your body and hers will sort themselves out. You don't need to worry about being super hydrated, just drink to your thirst - your body is pretty good at noting when you need more water, and will always prioritise the baby's needs
