I had it first time round and it took ages to treat. This time suddenly letdown feels like broken glass...it hurts a lot...niot normal, is it?
Also- if you had bad thrush did your LO get very windy suddenly?
apologies...am typing one-handed and half-brained...

Is the pain just during letdown? If so it's probably not thrush - do you have any other signs - are your nipples sore? Is this feeding a new baby? Could it just be a majorly strong letdown? Mine is sometimes so painful I have to concentrate on breathing!

Hi, I have had thrush in ducts with each baby, now on number three, and it does make the let down reflex feel just as your described, broken glass. When you have it for a while, even with treatment that pain comes before, during and after feeds. The nipple is so painful and the change in temperature can be tear inducing. I can say it is truelly misarable and does make baby windy. However, all of my boys have fed so well, despite my misery, I fed them until they self weaned, my second son was nearly three!

Nips not sore but pain does happen for a while...baby is 7 weeks and this didn't happen til days ago. Same time he turned into super trumper. Am torn between it being thrush and having some kind of massive letdown increase that is making him gulp. It f-*&ing hurts though.

Usually starts after breastfeeding is going okay. Get to your GP for some treatment if it persist, as it can get soooooo much worse. Trust me, if its thrush there could be worse to come. Once treated, you can go back to just enjoying your feeding, yipee.
