is 2 feeds morning and night enough for a 9 month old?

ds is 9 months old and only really feeds (bf) morning and night for about 5 mins.

He eats alot of food during the day and has water or apple juice (constipation)

now my dd at this age was having the desired 20ml of formula and ate very little food so I am a little confused.

Is he getting enough milk.

I do try to give him a feed at 11am and 3pm but more often than not he sucks for a few seconds then comes off happily and smiles.

to be honest it suits me as I can wear nice non breastfeeding clothes and can also leave him with other people (occaisionaly)
but obv my first concern is that he is getting enough milk.

He sounds fine to me. I asked my HV about milk intake as I didn't think my DD was having enough and she said they need a pint a day but obviously it's hard to know exactly how much they have had when they are bf.

If you are worried about it then make his cereal with milk and give him yoghurts and cheese.

My DD is 10 months and has about the same but she still has a feed in the night too and sometimes at 2.30pm but she doesn't eat much and she likes the comfort.

Yes fine I reckon assuming he is having milk drink and/or milk in food.

Mine was a gannet too took to solids like a dream and never looked back. DD2 is turning out to be more of a milk lover.

I'm not sure but I'd keep offering the other feeds as well.
Milk should be the main source of nutrition for the first year, so he may still need a bit more than two feeds a day.

funny I was just going to post this. almost 9m dd is doing odd things with her bfing - a couple of infuriating micro-feeds (suck suck, letdown, suck, all finished! - ) during the day, a couple of proper feeds in the late afternoon/evening, then at least one feed in the night and two in early morning. I think. She seems to change her mind every day. And there is also lots of night-moaning-comfort sucking too so tbh I don't really know what the hell is going on.

She isn't getting any milk except ice-cream in her solids, I've been blwing and being very disorganised about it. I had some weirdy thing in my head they shouldn't get cow's milk til 1year - does anyone know a reason for this or is it merely the result of 3 years' sleep deprivation??

thanks all

he is getting cows milk in his cereal on an morning and also lots of cheese yoghurts etc, so i guess I cant force him to feed more.

phdlife- no cows milk as a main drink before 1 yr old, but its ok in food.

I think I will be led by ds.

He was, up until last week, also getting a feed in the middle of the night but as of last week I cut that out and touch wood he has started to sleep through the night

Sounds great to me lilymolly, sleeping though the night is fabbo

thanks lillymolly, it's unbelievable what I can't remember these days

and at your sleeping through. dd has done it a few times but she's pretty much in love with that 3am feed. And a couple of teething comfort nibbles too more often than not. And raspberries on the nearest bit of my anatomy, at 5am.
