am really panicking as i got some over the counter drops for conjuncitivits today and forgot to ask if they were ok for bf. i have not fed dd since taking them but am about to express her night time feed. i have only used 2 doses - one just now and one a couple of hours ago.
does anyone know if they are safe - the leaflet inside says ask your dr. if i pump and dump now,and dont use any more, will i be ok to feed as usual in the morning? she may wake at about 4.

TIA

if they are just drops i would really think they'd be ok....

let me see if they're on the bfn page though

ok not found anything speicifc to this drug yet, but the BFN states that it has not found any topical anti-biotic to pass into breastmilk

thank you TIY. I think i'm going to ditch what i express this evening and then feed as normal when dd wakes.

thank you leonie, it is reassuring to read about its half life. i just expressed and poured it away, have abottle of ebm that i expressed this morning to give her when i go to bed, and will feed her as normal after that.
i'd forgotten about these stressful parts of bf!

I was prescribed it when DS was only a few weeks old and used it while breastfeeding normally. GP knew I was bf so I assumed it was safe.

My DS was prescribed chloramphenicol himself when he was born (several times, as he had a very persistent eye infection), so I'd imagine you have nothing to worry about.
