Pacifier overuse...could this be a problem with an older child?

DS2 is 13.5 months and has recently developed an intense relationshipo with his dummy. He has to have one with him, and over the last couple of weeks has to be holding one when feeding. This last week he has started feeding for a few seconds, having a suck on his dummy, feeding again, dummy....etc etc etc.

I have started confiscating the dummy until after he has fed, but the last couple of days he has been refusing the breast and screaming for his "momo". He also seems to be spending less time at the breast. This has coincided with him realising that cow's milk tastes rather nice (he has dryish breakfast cereal with a cup of milk on the side otherwise he won't eat it) and wanting to drink it more (after seven months of gaggin when given any!)

13.5 months is too young to self wean isn't it? I've had a look on kellymom, and all the stuff about nursing strikes seems to be for much younger babies but pacifier overuse was one that socked me in the eye.

Is he just exploring different tastes and will get back to BF eventually, or is the perma-plug causing us issues?
