DS (8mth) is feeding 6am, sometimes mid am, sometimes mid aft then bed 7pm. I dont really feed him in nite.
He has started biting/nipping mainly towards end of feed/or when milks run out. At the last feed he always empties both sides then gets mad cos none left so bites.
Tonight i gave him expressed out of freezer and he took 3oz so obviously needs/wants more. I dont have much left in freezer.
What should i do?
Thanks

Not really go too much to suggest, just wanted to ask if he is really hungry?
Your DS will probably have more than 3 oz when you feed him. Or he might be enjoying the milk from the bottle as it is easier to take?
Also if he is biting are you sure he is not just finished?

To increase your supply I reccomend fenugreek supplement from a health food shop. Also feeding him more in the night to stimulate your breasts to produce more milk. HTH

Have you tried swapping back to the 'first' side? Apologies if you have. Sounds like he is just trying to up supply. Both mine would also want to feed more if a bit poorly or teething.

Hi Wellbalanced. Firstly, breastfeeding works on a supply and demand basis, so if you are feeding your child whenever they are interested and for as long as they want, you will always produce enough milk.

If you want to up your supply, simply put your child to the breast more often

The biting thing... I went through that with my third child and it's tricky. I found immediate removal from the breast and a firm no worked wonders. Your baby needs to associate biting with losing the breast.

I have successfully breastfed all three of my kids, and have also worked as a breastfeeding peer supporter. You could try to contact your local support group or breastfeeding counsellor

Lastly, well done for breastfeeding your child this long. I know it's not always easy

Yeah know all about the 'not enough milk' excuse And about the supply and demand thingy..(dont mean that to sound as patronising as it does!!)

Just wondered if anyone had had similar and what they did.

He could well be full but its the classic-not wanting him to go to bed hungry if only feed for 5mins. He prob hasnt as takes what needs.

I do swap back and forth and think that gets him frustrated too as milk not there straight away!!

Im doing the firm NO when biting so see how we go...

I dont feed in night when wakes (wakes once mostly) Do you think i should go back to feeding?

Thanks for replies x
