Has anyone out there ever starved their breastfed baby onto a bottle? If so, how long did it take - did someone else do it for you? Back to work in less than 2 weeks and nothing else is working. V.stubborn DS is point blank refusing all bottles he is presented with. Have tried all tips on here. Am getting v.desperate.

Oh, and if you did starve them onto the bottle, did you ever breastfed again or was that it???

hi, my little girl is still having nothing to do with cups or bottles, I have been offereing 2 times a day, but I do then breast feed her, I really want to stop breastfeeding alltogether now.
I think I might have to go down the road some of you have, she is only 4 months old, how many feeds should I refuse , and is there a possibility she could get dehydrated, im a bit worried about doing it. It is a real shame, I had no idea that a would have a problem getting her on to a bottle, no one ever told me there would be a problem. Feeling a bit .

I went back to work with DM looking after dd when dd was 7 months, and for the first week she wouldn't drink formula although we'd got her onto a cup as we'd tried unsuccessfully with bottles from 12 weeks! Tried starving her and she simply missed two feeds the first day but still wouldn't feed from a bottle. I ended up coming home at lunchtime to feed her and had visions of having to hand in my notice! Mum kept persevering with the bottle, we settled on Aptamil as she gradually started to take a little bit at a time.
Second week DH was at home with dd and he says he just stuck the bottle in her mouth almost permanently the first day and by day 2 she was drinking from a bottle - despite HV saying we'd missed our "window", which apparently was before 4 months. Our solution seems to have been perseverance. Other friends have said that nursery has done the trick for their babies.

my friends DD was the same, so she gave her milk from one of the avent white sippy teats (not sure what they're called?)

My DD had NUK too - someone else mentioned them - the latex teats are more like nipples.

No need to give up BF though ? We kept going until DD was 2 ! She would have a really big feed in the morning & I got an extra 10-15 mins in bed & she'd have a good old feed about 6 - 6:30ish in the evening.

The BF will be a nice source of comfort for your little one after being away. If you are working part-time, you should (if you want) be able to maintain afternoon feeds ? Might have an incident or 2 of leaky boobs, but I found this soon settled down.

Good luck !
