He won't settle to a feed these last few days. This evening he has bobbed on and off all night, grunting and complaining, getting cross, headbutting and thwacking me.

Poor DD hasn't had a look-in all night and practically put herself to bed, as DS was rooting and fussing all through her bedtime story.

Have just given him to DH, who was watching a film downstairs, as DS has been bobbing on and off since 7pm, having the odd 3 minute sleep and then waking up and going at it again. DS is not happy but I really just need an hour of not having Billy Blanks doing speed-bats on my boobs, please.

He is over the 100th centile line for both weight and height, I hadn't paid much attention to that but earlier this evening I was thinking "How am I going to exclusively feed this rugby player for another 3 months?"

I expect it's growth spurt... I am very tired, can you tell?

You are right, it is a growth spurt. I sympathise, so remember being there!

Just try and go with it over the weekend and things should be back to normal fairly quickly.

I don't know if you normally have a glass of wine or whatever, but maybe give it a miss for a couple of days. I have always found that even just a glass inhibits letdown, and during a growth spurt that can be a nightmare - used to make DS even fussier and more 'wrestly' (sp??)

Hope you get some sleep tonight - and remember that this too will pass!

Thank you! I did pass out asleep shortly after writing this message...

Happily, he is much calmer this morning so I think he finished the growth spurt at around the same time as I started to get cross.

Good tip about the alcohol though, I had had a whiskey & coke last night and I'm sure it made him extra grumpy, I can be forewarned in future!

Hooray! Thanks for your supportive words Alibaba

I'm glad he's calmer - it is sooo tiring when they are fussy!

The alcohol affecting the let down is less and less of a problem the older they get, they learn to persevere
