Hyperemesis, small boobs = problems breastfeeding?

As anyone experienced having problems breastfeeding after suffering from HG in pg?

I am still being sick, at 39 wks, not all the time, but daily, I have put on like 7lbs in total, and the baby is around 6lbs atm! I am very skinny, and have put on absolutely no weight whatsoever on my norks. I have tried to convince myself that I have, but it is in fact my ribs that have expanded not my norks.

My areolas have darkened and widened, but nothing else has happened at all, they have not grown, or swollen, or hardened, they are the same as always.

This is my second pg, and I know that they 'know what to do' more this time, but I am worried that I will not be able to feed. I am worried that I have not got enough nutrients for the baby stored.

Is there anything I can do to change this? Or will it all be ok when baby arrives?

It's so hard to have a clear mind for decisions like these so soon after birth. One good all-purpose question to keep in mind is 'What are the alternatives?' because quite often you're given the preferred medical course of action balanced with a worst-case scenario, when a less dramatic outcome is perhaps more likely.

Anyway, put your LLL and local bfing support helpline numbers in your hospital bag/phone and I'll be thinking of you (and watching out for the birth announcement!).

Only read OP as children screamng for dinner but I am 32a, had hyperemesis with dd, boobs didn't grow at all until milk came in (and then to the grand size of 34b ) but breastfed fine with only my own doubts getting in the way.

Had no hyperemesis with ds but put on no weight really, boobs same as before, breastfed him for 20 months

oh and pleased to hear that oats are good for milk. Porridge is one of the only things I can consistently keep down, and I have it probably every other day for brekky, and now I know it will help, more like every day .

I shall also get some fennel tea. I shall tell DH i just fancy it as he thinks I am mad to want 'support' breastfeeding . Ijust nod and go 'yes dear' and carry on with my own sweet thing!
