Cough/Cold medicine if breastfeeding?

Hi, sorry if this has been done before but my search function isn't working.

I have a horrible cold and wondered if there is anything other than paracetamol that I can take whilst breastfeeding. Are lemsips safe for example? I think probably not, so anyone got any suggestions of anything I can take for the congestion?

Olbas Oil dropped into boiling water and the vapours inhaled is best.

I don't think you can have much more than that to be honest

Speak to your pharmacist. I had a horrible cough when DD was about 7 months. I was able to take some cough medicines on their advice. That's probably you best bet. I also alternated paracetamol and ibruprofen

Oh I didn't realise that I could take ibuprofen! That may help my throbbing head as the paracetamol isn't stopping it. Olbas oil and steam is better than nothing!

Hiya - just thought I'd add that Olbas do some lozenges which taste disgusting but really helped me with congestion whilst pg. They're also okay whilst BFing.

Olbas also do a nasal stick too!
