Electric breastpump hell: Medela Freestyle or Ameda Lactaline for ebm at work?

I've just started back at work and have been using a Tommee Tippee electric pump. It's been a nightmare - as soon as I get a decent letdown, milk spurts into the air tube and I have to switch it off hastily before it reaches the motor. Fortunately I have a manual as backup, but of course it takes ages.

I'd quite like to switch to a Medela Freestyle, hideously expensive though it is, because it looks like the most portable and I'm already using their cooler bag. The Ameda Lactaline seems to be popular, but it doesn't look terribly easy to lug into a cubicle at work and use discreetly (they have transparent doors and I'm forever hiding the pumps under a jacket). Help! I just want something that can double pump fast and isn't liable to electrocute me.

I recently got the Ameda Lactaline and really like it. Always get a good result with it, and it's very quiet, unlike the Medela Mini I had before (now that was an awful pump - the noise!)

I love my Avent IQ and it's very quiet - aren't Medelas noisy? My sister's was, anyway...

I liked the freestyle although it was quite noisy, used to stuff a cushion over it when I pumped at night in the same room as my baby! Very portable, I used it in the car on long journeys, too. Think it comes down to personal preference, I've always got on with Medela systems better than Ameda. Have you looked at the medela swing? Now there's a discrete, portable .

I didn't get on with the advent IQ very well initially.
Love my ameda lactaline for expressing at work - quicker let down and I get more milk off because of pumping both sides together.
Have got better using the advent IQ as Ive got better at pumping - i usen it now as my 'manual' pump when I need to be more discrete!
Work provide me with a room in my department - but when I'm off site and need to use a ladies loo the advent IQ is ideal.
Would recommend going to the NCT and buying the ameda from them - best price I found c£85.

Is the Medela Freestyle Double-Electric Breast pump really worth £250? I used a manual avent breast pump but found it took so long to pump out only a few ounces and I was tired never had time. I then bought a medela electric one for £55 and I thought it was really rubbish? Help please!

i have the medela swing which is fab and the mini electric which does the job just the same but is a little noisier.

I can second (or is it third) the Medela Swing.

I am currently using it twice a day at work and can get 4-5oz in about 20 minutes. It doesn't seem too noisy at all.

You can hire Medela pumps. I did for about eight weeks - was great service. Here
