DS nearly two and still feeding - what do I say to people now?

I usually give the line about the WHO recommending two years but I won't be able to use that for much longer! Everyone already thinks I am weird and I doubt DS is going to stop anytime soon. What do you say to people if you are feeding beyond two years?

you could just say nothing when they ask, change subject or just smile and say when he wants to

Thank god for mumsnet!! This place always makes me feel better. I think it is hard because I know no one in real life who is an extended breast feeder. All the other mums I know have stopped.

Hey Thixotropic - who would have thought I would still be feeding now when you think about the start I had! I am so thankful to the people who supported me through that stage. DS would not be the same I don't think if he wasn't bf and I know I would never have forgiven myself for giving up.

mwabroon glad to hear your DS is still feeding I was wondering if he might self-wean now you are pregnant. Is he still feeding as frequently?

Hi Stefka,
We were on the same ante-natal thread (both babies born in October 2007). Great to see that you're still breast-feeding too. I have the same problem as you as I told everyone that I would breastfeed for two years as per WHO recommendations but ds is going to be two next month! He's actually started self-weaning and has willingly dropped down to one feed a day - so I probably won't have this problem for much longer. Hope you are keeping well.
