Milk in today - norks like boulders... feed more or wait for it to settle?

dd is 3 days old, milk came in over-night. She is feeding well although quite happy to go around 4 hours. I feel like I need her to feed a bit more today to help relieve some of the pressure but will that encourage more milk production? Will it settle on its own? Also cabbage leaves, are they ok in moderation? don't want to affect my supply but really do need a bit of relief from the boulder boobs!

I would feed her more often than every 4 hours, even if she will go around that length of time.DS used to do that in the daytime and then stay awake all night .

Your breasts will calm down - from what I remember the boulder stage only lasts a few days if that. Cabbage leaves also fine and help.

Express a little by hand, and feed often. Usually babies will have an appetite surge just when the milk comes in, so hopefully you won't be lugging the watermelons around for too long. BTW, if you get sore, a hot compress or cold compress (find what works for you) helps. Babies often find latching on difficult when the boobs get so enlarged, so expressing a little manually before feeding can help you both. And expect quite a bit of gulping and spluttering while baby gets used to the quantity newly available.

thanks, she must have known as she's been feeding all afternoon; poor little tyke was practically choking as the milk was flying out like a pressure washer . I've also got some lovely cabbage leaves fresh out of the fridge which feels wonderful.
