For the reason that they didn't really want to? I bottlefed from the offset as I wanted my dh to do his share and had a bad pregnancy so wanted to give my body a rest after giving birth. Just wondering if any other women simply decided not to bf from the start??

Leonie, you do make a good point about having to do things! I did have to do other jobs lol. I even cooked christmas dinner two days after he was born I think I must have been on autopilot!

Slightly O/T (or not really, I suppose), but the idea of dads wanting to be involved with feeding as a big part of baby care. Wonder who encouraged dads to feel this way?

Strictly speaking, Yummy, you can't happily say you were less exhausted, because you didn't try the alternative. One path chosen means another not taken, IYSWIM? You'll not know whether you would've found BF-ing exhausting or not. Some people do, I know. But not all. I found it incredibly relaxing. Still do.

I'm out...this has been going on all day and it's turning farcical...

yummy I initially believed and congratulated you on your belief in your decisions and choices....

Someone comfortable and happy with their choices would not still be arguing the same point almost 10 hours later!

Let it go...enjoy your baby. That's what I'm going to do

Lol I wasnt saying anything about 'lesser roles' haha, just saying that we wanted dh to feed the baby! Nothing wrong with that imo!

Yummy - I could have written your OP!

YummyorSlummy · 19/08/2009 21:21

Lol Hoochie like I say it was autopilot...folowed by cheese on toast and a state of a house for about 3 weeks after!

Funnily enough after we started mixed feeding and DD had a bottle before bed every night I always had to argue with DH to get him to do the bottle. He never wanted to do it!

When you have other DC the best thing my DP did in the early days was look after them, he always got up to see to them in the night allowing me to concentrate on DD3. I asked him if feeding DD3 would have allowed him to bond with her more, (he did give her the odd bottle of EBM) and he said no way feeding is only a tiny part of it and for him knowing that she was getting the best food there is, is more important than him feeding her himself. He also said he couldn't be bothered heating up bottles and since he is really tight with money he is happy BM is free

I bottle fed from the offset as the thought of a baby latching on freaks me out. However, i will breast feed next time or express my milk and bottle feed due to my DD having chest problems ie asthma etc and I think if i'd of BF things may of been different.

YummyorSlummy · 19/08/2009 21:34

Lol starlight! Like I said earlier I'll consider trying breastfeeding with the next dc and the the things you've just said will be in the 'for bf' category!
