How do babies fit all that milk in their little tummies?!

Ok, here's a question I've just been wondering as I watch my DD guzzle down 9oz of bedtime (cow's) milk - how on earth does that all fit in her little tummy?! I thought babies' stomachs were meant to be the size of their fists (or is that an old wives' tale?), and even if it expands a little bit, surely it doesn't expand to the size of a 9oz bottle?

Anyone able to enlighten me?

Hollow legs?!

Ah ha! And long hollow legs - that's why DD doesn't fit any of her trousers overnight!

(if anyone kinda medical actually knows then do post!)

Their tummies expand as they fill with milk.....no big mystery although I was told at antenatal class how small their tummies were and how little milk they can take...the person failed to mention that they expand. Cx

hia!at our antenatal classes we were told that there have been ultrasound tests done on feeding babies and they push the milk into their intestines which is pretty cool, although i think thats what cows do as well!

Don't know about babies but DS aged 2 definitely has hollow legs, which is the only explanation for the fact that he can eat three (yes three) bowls of cornflakes and at least one slice of toast for his breakfast.

I think most of the males i know have hollow legs! saying that, my little one has just gone up to 8floz of milk per feed and is only 15 weeks old!

mine seems to get rid of some out the other end at the same time. Its obviously to make room
