Should i give DD some water?

My 20 week old DD is exclusively breast fed, feeds 3hrly during the day and once overnight. She's a big girl (98th centile) and seems well and happy in herself.

This morning i've noticed her lips are looking a little cracked. She also hasn't had a poo for 7 days (usually goes every 4 days). Still getting wet nappies although they are possibly slightly less wet than usual.

When she's in the bath she always turns her head to the side and starts lapping up the water and also likes to drink the water when we go swimming. Yesterday we were out in the rain and she was even trying to drink that!

Am wondering whether she might be thirsty and need a bit of water. She doesn't seem keen if I offer her the breast more frequently. I know breastfed babies shouldn't need extra water, but would it do any harm to offer her some and see what she does as we don't have any worries about my supply or her weight?

It wouldn't do any harm but I wouldn't worry too much about the dry lips unless they persist. Have you perhaps had the heating on more/been outside more? The wind is quite strong at the moment. Also I wouldn't worry about the pooing because they don't necessarily stick to a schedule forever.

The trying to get water from the bath etc sounds more like curiosity and is very cute

Yes I suppose it could be because I had her in the sling in the rain and wind yesterday (she loved it!)
Drinking the bath water is very cute, she's like a little puppy or maybe a fish - I must try and get it on camera next time!
Will stick some vaseline on her lips and stop worrying
